Appearance:
Kenji has a very lean, yet athletic body type. Given his constant training and activity he is rather toned given his age. He is tall for his age as well and tends to tower over some of the other Genin. His black hair is short enough to be left alone, as it usually keeps itself in style because of its length. His dark hair is a stark contrast to his bright, green eyes. He shares his eye color with his mother, who's family is known for their eye color. Kenji's right forearm feature a series of scars that wrap around its entire length. He received these during a training exercise with a fellow Genin, whose puppet's blades caught the arm. Kenji's face is devoid of facial hair save for a light 'peach-fuzz' along the sides of his face that he keeps trimmed.

Kenji often wears dark, yet light-weight clothes made of very thin material. Though the dark colors tend to attract the heat of the sun the clothes are still loose enough to keep him cool. These usually consist of a variety of long-sleeved, black and grey shirts with buttons or fasteners. He often rolls the sleeves up to just below the elbow. On occasion he will don short sleeved versions of these. His pants fall mid-calf and allow for all range of movements. They are usually black or dark-grey as well to match his top though he may sometimes choose to mix them together. The remainder of his lower legs are wrapped in either black or white wrap. Black combat sandals adorn his feet and these are the only pair he has. Occasionally, the black and greys are traded for a light-cream color or white though the combat sandals remain black. His black headband is tied just above his knee on his right thigh. A shuriken holster and tool pouch are worn at the back of his waist on the right side as well.

Personality:
A care-free spirit, Kenji knows little of the issues of the outside world and cares even less. He is mostly concerned with training, combat, and girls. These interests are so predominant that a large portion of his time is spent perfecting his skills as a Shinobi, formulating and practicing jutsu utilization, engaging in combat exercises, and chasing or attempting to impress girls. His efforts are focused in these areas and he is determined to excel at all of them. Though this may seem to contradict his aforementioned care-free spirit, Kenji's approach to such matters is what points toward such a trait. He is one to let mistakes, disappointments, and complicated issues roll of his back and then never return to them. He rarely holds a grudge and thus is as forgiving as they come, in terms of his comrades. This is not extended toward opponents or foreigners as much, though he couldn't really tell you why that is. He views the people of the Leaf as close allies, the people of the Mist as distant allies, and the people of the Stone as hated enemies. Most of this is a result of first-hand experience with them. He is somewhat naive but given his age what more is to be expected of him? He knows little of the history of the war and his hatred of Iwagakure stems only from their recent invasion of his village, which he views as the cause of his father's death. If asked why he feels in such a way, he might come right out and tell you that it is entirely based upon that instance.

Determined to excel at his career choice and in courting a young lady, Kenji will try with all of his might to achieve such goals and this sometimes reflects a stubborn nature. This nature is not prevalent on most occasions but because he tends to let things roll of his back, he also doesn't know when to stop. Some might find him annoying at first and yet others may see this as a misguided determination. Yet none can doubt his friendliness or his ability to get along with most people. Kenji has no issues socializing with those of his own age or close to it. Be it a large or small group, acquaintances or close friends Kenji will not hesitate to join in on a conversation or group event. He especially enjoys talking to girls as it gives him an opportunity to try and learn more about them and maybe even attract one or two of them. Kenji also has no problem talking and engaging in other matters with those who are moderately older than him. Chuunins, Jounins, etc. However, despite being able to communicate with his peers and adults, Kenji has a problem dealing with the elderly and people of important stature. For instance, Kenji gets rather flustered in the presence of the Kazekage, more because he is intimidated by her than anything else. He often stumbles over his words when addressed by her and even being in her presence causes him discomfort. His interaction with the Village Council and other elderly people is much the same. This is not to say that he lacks respect for any of them, for he deeply respects his elders and the Lady Kazekage but they are nonetheless intimidating.

Overall, Kenji is a well-to-due adolescent who strives to better himself through training and yet doesn't try to take things too seriously. He is often seen training or perfecting jutsu and when not occupied with these, he can be found attempting to flirt with girls or sleeping at his home. There are many times that thoughts of his father consume him and he can be seen staring off into nothing or day-dreaming. These instances serve to outwardly show people his naive side, as they tend to come at the worst times. Yet, he is still care-fre as he can be and tries his best to let things roll of his shoulders. Despite his flaws and naivety, Kenji has the makings of a superb Shinobi though he has often been told to take the Village's history more seriously considering his career choice.

History:
Kenji was born into an era of tension amidst the Hidden Sand. Mere days after his own birth the village sealers, aided by Konoha, were concentrated in a ritual that would seal the Shukaku in another infant. This would spark many controversies across Sunagakure as citizens left and right began to wonder what the result of such a feat would be. International turmoil was their answer and a mere year after Kenji's birth was Sunagakure thrown into the fires of war. Thus was the boy's childhood a mixture of happiness and fear. From an early age he was used to his parents leaving for lengthy periods of time, and for 6 long years did this happen repeatedly. Kenji's mother and father were important members of Suna's small military and they used every inch of their power to keep the monsters from Iwagakure out of the village and away from their son. With the tides of the war changing after six years an armistice treaty was signed between the Five Great Nations. Kenji was now six years old and would soon be off to the Shinobi Academy in the Hidden Sand. For now however, he would spend his next two years with his parents and it would be a wonderful time for the boy. He had rarely seen them for such long periods of time in the past few years and he cherished every moment of it. It was during these next two years that he would develop some of his key personality traits with the help of his father. Seeing that Kenji had a deep interest in following in the footsteps of his parents, his father invited Kenji to run laps around the village with him. What started as father-son bonding time became a routine for the young boy. He would become as diligent as his father was in terms of training, and even more so with women.

As he grew older, Kenji saw the way his father treated his mother. The man was always doing something to impress and show affection for his wife. A kiss for a good day, a gift of desert flowers at noon, helping with chores around the house at night, and visiting her at the medical compounds. Here began Han's greatest influence. He would slowly instill in Kenji a deep respect for women and with it an infatuation as well. Only as he grew older would this blossom into a true knack for romance, one might say but as a young lad he fell in and out of puppy love nearly every day. In 1557, Kenji's eighth year, he is enrolled in the Shinobi Academy. It is here that his determination shines through, as his love for training compels him to continue to learn the basics and advance quickly. Yet at the same time it is a troublesome year for the boy because there are just too many pretty girls to choose from. Thus are his next four years full of training and endless attempts at impressing the girls in his class left and right. Though he did not go so far as to be bothersome to the class, he is not always successful. However, that is not to say that some of the girls did not take a liking to him. On one specific instance, he came very close to a fist-fight with another young boy his age over a girl because she informed the two that the stronger would get to kiss her. These childish games continued on throughout his Academy years but overall it was a time full of learning. His skills as a Shinobi began to present themselves and he became especially skilled with Ninjutsu and Sealing.

As time passed, Kenji came into his eleventh year and Han sought to advance his training much further than was probably necessary at the time. Thus, did he have Kenji pour his chakra into the litmus paper used to determine a person's chakra nature. Astounding to his father was the discovery of two chakra natures already present within the boy. At such a young age this was almost a rarity, yet Kenji's father had heard of this before. Guessing that the boy might have a latent nature hiding there as well he began to instruct him in the basics of his Wind and Lightning chakra natures during the hours after school. Progress was slow and there were many a time that Kenji gave either himself or his father a scar. His manipulation of the wind nature was mediocre at first and its uncontrollable nature caused much destruction within their back yard and the training grounds. His lightning nature left much glass about the sand of the village as well and often singed the hair off of his Han's arms. Yet eventually Kenji would get a knack for the basics of both natures as he learned two of the most basic jutsu for the natures. This took the better part of a year and now the world had entered into the year 1561. Kenji finishes his time at the academy and his graduation ceremony is fast approaching during his twelfth year. His life is full of joy and happiness. The boy was excited to become a true Shinobi within Sunagakure. Yet, all of that would be put on hold when Iwagakure made a surprise visit.

That very year, merely days before Kenji is scheduled to graduate from the academy the Hidden Stone invades the Hidden Sand. their objective is the sealing method for placing a Bijuu in a living human, thus making a powerful Shinobi weapon. They have no reservations and kill left and right, merciless to all who stand in their path. All of this is unknown to Kenji and all that he knew during this conflict was fear. The powerful Stone Shinobi slaughtered people before the young boy's eyes. He watched with horror as they cut down two of his peers who were also meant to graduate in a few days. Kenji's parents were quick to act, stowing the boy away in a safe place. The rest of the village was in turmoil as they attempted to push the invaders back and in his fear Kenji pondered at the status of his parents. Were they safe? What would become of them? Thus he left his safe location and entered the fray. Upon coming back into the streets of the Hidden Sand, what he saw before him caused more fear in him than anything else. The Sand was fighting the Sand and before his very own eyes they were killing eachother while being devoured by the hands of the Stone Shinobi. Searching frantically for his parents he entered the Kazekage's hall where he saw a flash of his father. He was fighting a fellow comrade, a man from the Sand. Noticing the presence of his son, Han shouted to Kenji. His words were short, merely telling the boy to always trust the Kazekage and never betray that name. With that, the opponent plunged a kunai into Han and his life was taken. Everything after that grew black and all kenji could recall was the blank stare that engraved itself on his father's face.



Days passed as the Hidden sand cleaned up after the tragedy. Their forces had successfully silenced the civil conflict and pushed the Hidden Stone out of the Land of Wind. To this very day Kenji is not sure what caused the dispute between the Shinobi of the Sand but his mother has always instructed him to keep quiet about the matter. His grief during this time caused him to obey her without question. The man that was the most important and influential in the young boy's life was now gone. Han would be nothing more than a memory from that moment on. His graduation ceremony and celebration would seem less important given the circumstances and Kenji kept to himself for the better part of a month, despite being promoted to Genin at the age of 12.

The boy spends most of his time on his own for the next month, training constantly. As a Genin he had been assigned a team yet they were not instructed to do anything during that brief time after the invasion as there were other things the leaders had to deal with. Thus, Kenji found much time to practice the manipulation of his chakra natures and the perfection of his jutsu. Before his father's death he had began to instruct him in simultaneously activating his two chakra natures but what he had said was very lacking. It was a topic the two had not had much time to cover, yet Kenji now felt that finishing this task would help with the pain of losing his father. Thus he sat about doing so and over the month he began to see results, though they were nothing to boast about.

With the passing time Kenji began to return to his usual self and soon enough his new team was put together. He had previously helped with clean-up around the village though this task was very minimal. Thus did he and his new team, with their sensei begin to take on D-rank missions left and right, seeking to occupy their time and better themselves to the best of their ability. When not doing missions, Kenji would be found perfecting jutsu or practicing with his advanced chakra nature. Over the next four years the boy would continue in this manner. He would be one of many young people to attend the appointment ceremony of the Nidaime Kazekage and he was proud that his village was the first to sport a female Kazekage, despite being intimidated by her. With her appointment came new team organizations and thus was Kenji move around so as to be part of his current team. Under the leadership of the Jounin Keitaro, the new team would flourish and grow together and the best part about this new time was the attractive girl he was partnered with. Chichou Chiri was a very beautiful girl in Kenji's mind and at the age of 16 his attitude toward girls had only grown more refined. He respected them not only for their beauty but their abilities and character as well. To say the least, he would come to have a crush for the girl and to this day still keeps it quiet.

Currently, Kenji focuses on training with his team, completing missions with them, perfecting his jutsu, and trying to flirt with Chichou of course. His life is better than it ever could be, despite his previous loss. There is not a day that goes by where he does not think about his father but he refuses to let it dampen his spirits. Staying strong was something his father always wanted him to do. Thus, his current time is spent preparing for the Joint Chuunin Exams that are to be held in the Hidden Sand as well. He plans on tackling the challenge with his team and overcoming it as well. He aims to be promoted and advance in the ranks of his village in order to make his father proud.

Combat Style:
Kenji's combat style focuses on the use of Ninjutsu as an offensive and defensive measure, as well as in preparation for traps and ambushes. His knowledge of Taijutsu is limited to the mere basics though he is familiar with some Genjutsu as well. Often he will employ his use of Sealing Jutsu in battle in hopes of sealing some of his opponent's powers or abilities. An advantageous situation usually starts with Kenji attacking and trapping the opponent at long range with a prepared seal or a chain of Ninjutsu attacks. He might follow this up with close range combat of further attempts to obliterate an opponent at long-range. He is lacking in mid-range power though his presence there not entirely null. Overall, Kenji tries to act like a true shinoi and trap and sneak up on his opponent, taking them down before they know what hit them but if all else fails he is not afraid to use his fists if a situation calls for it.
